Music and Me!

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog! My name is Angela I grew up in a small town in Lake Butler, FL, and really haven't had much experience with music other than my 4th grade recorder performance. But, I do enjoy listening to music whether it's on a streaming service or watching my little brother perform in the band. I can't wait to go on this journey together with y'all!

My absolute go-to currently is Boogie Shoes by KC & The Sunshine Band. I don't know what it is about that song but it just scratches something in my brain so well. I will play that song on repeat so many times because it's just too good!


A song I always love to play, whether it's in my car or walking to class is Firm Foundation (He Won't) by Maverick City featuring Chandler Moore and Cody Carnes. I really love this song because it got me through some of the hardest times of my life. It just reminds me that no matter what happens in life, Jesus is my firm foundation and will always be there for me. It reminds me that I don't have to have everything in life figured out or always be strong because my strength doesn't come from myself, it comes from my faith. There is a specific part of the song that always gets me and it's when they sing "Rain came and wind blew, but my house was built on you. I'm safe with you, I'm gonna make it through." It's a beautiful truth and so comforting to know that no matter what life throws at me, I have Jesus to rely on. 



Now, when it comes to music, I try to be pretty open-minded to listening to new artists and genres. However, one style that I just don't vibe with is heavy metal. It scares me so badly and I don't understand what they're saying.

    Hey girl hey! I really love that you choose to open up and share a form of Christian music, because so did I. I love the song “Firm Foundation” and Chandler Moore is such an amazing musician all around, and for the ones who aren’t familiar with Maverick City, I hope your blog is able to enlighten others!

    Hi Angela, I really enjoyed reading your post. I also really like the song Boogie shoes; it always puts me in a good mood. I have never really listened to Christan music, but I thought it was interesting that this song has helped you and I intend on looking it up in my free time. I do agree that heavy metal is hard to understand which is why I put it as music I don't connect to.

    Hi Angela! I was really interested in and liked your choice of Christian music. I really loved how you talked about how powerful the lyrics are of Christian music. I also enjoyed how you explained how it is amazing reminder to you how Jesus is there for us through the good and hard times. I also love Maverick City!

    Hi Angela, I had a great time reading your blog and I love the fact that you also added Christian music as one of your choices because I really enjoy Christian/Gospel music as well because it really speaks to me, I also really love boogie shoes because it is always able to put me in a good mood.

    Hey Angela, I loved reading your blog I love the fact that you have Christian music as one of your music choices especially this song because god is our firm foundation and we have to rely on him when we have no one else. I really love your blog and hope others do as well.

I’ve had many musical experiences with ‘rituals.’ My faith is a huge part of my life and who I am today.
